The Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office and Berkshire Community College recently brought a Culinary Program to the facility.

Individuals are in the kitchen learning life skills.

The four-week program is allowing sentenced individuals to be directly involved with the crucial life skills including using human-centered design to solve problems, communicating effectively, and teamwork building. Berkshire's Food Service Director, Lieutenant James Terranova, is leading the program, which will provide a lifelong skill and a multitude of certifications such as TIPS certification, First Aid/CPR certification, and Managers ServSafe.

Berkshire Community College is also collaborating with Second Street Second Chance, a community-based program located at the Berkshire County Sheriff's Office's Second Street facility whose mission is to provide the necessary skills for those previously incarcerated for a successful re-entry.
