Essex Visits NY Sheriff's Office

Essex County Sheriff’s Department (ECSD) Superintendent, John M. Grella, and Wellness Coordinator, David Fielding, visited Sheriff Todd Baxter, of Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), and his team to discuss their departmental Wellness Program.

During the meeting, Dr. Kim Butler, MCSO Director of Health & Wellness shared details of their program and best practices. MCSO Superintendent Maurice Leone led a “round table” discussion where many ideas, situations and examples were discussed. MCSO Lt. Justin Gattie then provided a tour of the Monroe County Jail. Grella and Fielding were able see the many components of their facility in action while meeting with many members of the department. They came away with new information that they plan to incorporate into the ECSD’s Wellness Program.

Sheriff Kevin Coppinger places a premium on the wellness of his work force and is always looking for ways to improve and deliver assistance to his people as needed.
